This workshop studied the effects of addiction on families and the family impact on recidivism when addiction is present.

The Prison Alliance Liaison Service (PALS) has as its Mission the following:

-Act as an advocate for families of incarcerated people.

-Encourage family recovery as a means to reduce recidivism and promote family recovery as a cost effective instrument for New York State, families and society in general.

-Network, nurture and support other organizations that seek to assist families of incarcerated people through a statewide coalition.

-Develop a statewide clearinghouse to inform families of incarcerated people about available services and how to access them.
