A Strong Organizational Structure
--if embedded in a larger organization, the project is fully supported by the leadership and all staff;
--if a stand-alone program, the organization is incorporated and has a strong board of directors.

Thorough Planning Process with Community Input.

Clear Mission Statement that Includes a Focus on Fathers.

Clearly Defined, but Realistic Goals and Outcomes
--a set of measurable outcomes have been identified: and
--they are clearly connected to specific services in the project.

Adequate and Ongoing Funding
--funding for serving fathers is a part of the overall annual budget: and
--internal fundraising capacity is adequate or strong.

Quality, Committed Staff
--staff composition has strong male presence;
--regular staff development opportunities;
--sufficient number of staff to carry out all designated tasks; and
--administrators provide support and adequate supervision.

Solid Recruitment Approach
--adequate staff time has been allotted for recruitment;
--appropriate staff have been assigned to recruitment activities;
--recruitment staff are trained and coached on a regular basis; and
--administration recognizes that recruitment is often challenging.

Well-defined Services Tailored Specifically for Fathers
--service components are fully developed and appealing to targeted fathers; and
--services are as comprehensive as possible based on agency resources.

Strong Collaborations with Other Community Agencies.

Efficient Documentation and Reporting Procedures
--project is committed to documenting activities; and
--evaluation is an ongoing part of the work.
