"Helping families stay together while they are apart".
Fort Worth, Texas 76110
A non-profit organization established in 1984 to preserve and strengthen families of incarcerated persons.
PACT's primary objective is to prevent the incarceration of future generations by encouraging stronger, more healthy families.
70% of our prison population were raised in single parent homes.
Statistics tells us that crime continues to occur more frequently in this country than in any other nation in the world. It is estimated that over 4 million people are touched by the criminal justice system in Texas alone.
While the number of incarcerated individuals continues to increase, P.A.C.T. remains a positive influence on prisoners and their children by enabling them to cope with life more successfully and effectively.
37% of our prison population have had at least one immediate family member incarcerated.
It is estimated that over 3.5 million children exist in the United States with a parent behind bars. One out of 50 children today have a parent in prison or jail. Children with parents in prison are five (5) times as likely to become incarcerated themselves. Today's pressures on American families puts pressure on our criminal justice system. Today's abused and neglected children, maybe tomorrow's violent offenders. Statistics show that being abused or neglected in childhood increases the likelihood of arrest:
As an adult by 38%
For a violent crime by 38%
For overall criminal behavior by 40%
